OUR ORIGIN STORY

Our story is a miracle! Sam Harris went in to the monument business in Fort Collins, Colorado as a young man. He learned this was his calling so he ventured into business with a partner and they bought a monument company in Sterling, Colorado… hence our name. Then, what can only be described as a miraculous twist of events, Sam was, literally, led to Eastland, Texas where he quickly bought a beautiful piece of land, brought his wife, Terri, and family to this great state, and established Sterling Monument Company in Texas in 1990. Through enormous effort, hard work, building a solid team, and relying on faith, SMC grew into one of the top monument companies in the Southwest United States, and definitely in Texas, in just ten short years! Sterling Monument Company has continued to grow and serve families with all of their memorialization needs for over 30 years.

A MODERN MONUMENT COMPANY

Curtis and Jenna Harris took the helm at Sterling Monument in 2018. They are innovative and bring a technological savvy to the business while always respecting and remaining true to their roots – that every customer will always be treated like a member of their family. As founder Sam Harris’ son, Curtis grew up in the business and is a master monument craftsman, and both he and Jenna actively serve as co-owners and co-operators of the business.

FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED

As second-generation owners, Curtis and Jenna learned the monument business from Curtis’ parents, Sam and Terri Harris. Curtis and Jenna both began their careers as teachers and coaches, after having both enjoyed successful athletic careers of their own. They loved their work, but as their family grew – they have a 10-year-old daughter, Addie, and a 7-year-old son, Brandtley – the Lord brought them back to their beloved family business to lead Sterling Monument Company into its future. They believe in portraying God’s love through serving others and they have built an incredible team that feels the same.

FROM OUR CUSTOMERS

It is always heart-warming to hear from our families we serve.

Probably the best experience I’ve had in purchasing a memorial headstone for a loved one. The staff that helped me were so kind and accommodating, it was like I was visiting with old friends! I never felt rushed and it was a very comfortable and relaxed experience and I will definitely recommend them to anyone that I know who is in need of this type of service. I will most assuredly be a repeat customer if and when the need arises in the future. Thanks again for the care and compassion that you showed to me during my time of grief.

Your caring alleviated much pressure. I’m impressed with how you dealt with my grandson. It wasn’t just a sale to you. It is a ministry. Your kindness to us showed us that. Thank you.

She really took time to listen to me. I didn’t feel rushed. It took some time to get my headstone just the way I wanted it and she worked with me until we got there.
